Beautiful MS64 SSCA 1857-S Double Eagle

1857-S $20 Bold S MS64 PCGS. SSCA 0462. Variety 20B. The S mintmark was deeply punched into the reverse die and has a thick appearance, hence its "Bold S" designation by Robert Evans in the July 2000 Numismatist. This is a beautiful near-Gem representative of the ill-fated S.S. Central America bounty of double eagles. At first glance, this smooth and shimmering piece appears to deserve an even higher grade, but there is a slender tick on the cheekbone and a hint of struck in grease on the left obverse field.
