1857-S $20 MS66 PCGS. CAC. Variety 20-B. Ex: S.S. Central
America, housed in the special gold-foil PCGS holder. The Bold
Medium S mintmark is crisp and sharp on this variety. About 20% of
the more than 5,000 1857-S double eagles that Bob Evans studied are
from this die pair. This treasure coin is an outstanding gold piece
that exhibits lemon-yellow toning at the borders, lighter
yellow-gold at the centers, and brilliant, frosty mint luster with
virtually pristine surfaces and exceptional eye appeal. Population:
