Choice 1857-S Spiked Shield Double Eagle
From the S.S. Central America
1857-S $20 Spiked Shield MS64 PCGS. Ex: S.S. Central
America. Variety 20A. SSCA 0312. Dazzling luster, an
exacting strike, and exemplary surfaces combine to proclaim the
quality of this impeccable near-Gem. Principally pumpkin-gold,
although the obverse margin has glimpses of deep orange or russet.
Nearly perfect save for a hair-thin mark on the nose and a faint
graze on the cheek. Encapsulated in a gold label holder.(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 70000, Base PCGS# 8922, GSID# 9892)
