Description
Impressive Premium Gem 1857-S Spiked Shield Twenty,
Ex: S.S. Central America
1857-S $20 Spiked Shield MS66 PCGS. CAC. Ex: S.S. Central
America. Variety 20A. SSCA 0383. Although the 1857-S is the
most numerous double eagle from the S.S. Central America
shipwreck hoard, coins as lustrous and well preserved as the
present Gem are scarce, especially when compared to the number of
high-grade specialists in today's hobby. This is a beautiful double
eagle, and the surfaces only show a handful of minor marks. A
razor-sharp strike and frosty, orange-gold surfaces are included on
this coin's list of positive attributes. A technically impressive
piece with splendid eye appeal.See: Video Lot Description(Registry values: P2)
