    Description

    1858-O Twenty, Almost Uncirculated
    Low-Mintage New Orleans Date

1858-O $20 AU50 PCGS. Although the San Francisco Mint was producing tremendous quantities of double eagles in the 1850s, the New Orleans Mint struck relatively small numbers. In this particular instance, the 1858-O had a mintage of just 35,250 pieces, most of which saw extensive circulation. Few New Orleans coins were intentionally set aside by collectors of the day. The resplendent surfaces of this pale yellow specimen have no noteworthy marks. The first two stars lack definition, but the rest of the details are crisp. Population: 19 in 50, 37 finer (1/12).
    Ex: Los Angeles Signature (Heritage, 8/2009), lot 2693.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 2698, PCGS# 8924)
