Description
1858-S Twenty Dollar, MS62
Bright, Golden-Yellow Surfaces
1858-S $20 MS62 PCGS Secure. CAC. Medium S. While there were
no 1858-S twenties on the S.S. Central America (since it
sank in 1857), there were 68 examples of the 1858-S on board the
S.S. Republic. Unlike many of those salvaged coins, which
were heavily abraded, this piece displays bright golden-yellow
surfaces and pinpoint-sharp strike definition. We do not see any
abrasions that are remotely worthy of mention, just a few wispy
marks over the high points that are visible under a light at one
angle and then disappear when tilted at another angle. Population:
1 in 62, 1 finer. CAC: 1 in 62, 0 finer (11/18).(Registry values: N1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2699, PCGS# 8925, Greysheet# 9894)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: Gold
