Description

Scarce 1859 Twenty Dollar, AU53

1859 $20 AU53 PCGS. Much scarcer than the mintage of 43,597 pieces would indicate, the 1859 is also a particularly rare item in high grade with the average specimen only grading VF30. This is one of the finer pieces known. There is very little to separate this coin from one that is technically Uncirculated. The luster sparkles on each side, and the medium yellow-gold color abounds overall. Sharply struck with myriad detracting abrasions overall. (Registry values: N2998)
