Description

1860 Twenty Dollar, Mint State
From the
S.S. Republic

1860 $20 MS60 NGC. Ex: S.S. Republic. This impressive Type One twenty has unbroken cartwheel sheen across both sides. The reverse is surprisingly unabraded, and its luster is undiminished. Moderate obverse marks are fewer than expected of the grade. The 1860 is scarce in Mint State despite a small quantity of the date recovered from the 1865 S.S. Republic shipwreck.
Ex: Orlando FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2008), lot 4647, which realized $6,325.(Registry values: N2998)
