Description
Desirable 1860 Liberty Double Eagle
1860 $20 MS63 PCGS. This is an extremely important opportunity, as this date is anything but common in Mint State grades. It is a fully brilliant example with frosty yellow-gold luster and wisps of pinkish color. A few slight abrasions and lines keep this from the Choice MS64 grade level. With the massive gold discoveries in California, construction and operation of the San Francisco Mint meant that much less gold had to be shipped back to Philadelphia, thus much lower mintages resulted. Population: 7 in 63, 3 finer (1/05).(#8929) (Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 269D, PCGS# 8929, Greysheet# 9796)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”.
