Description
Significant MS61 1860-S Twenty
Among the Finest Pedigreed to a Shipwreck
1860-S $20 MS61 NGC. Ex: S.S. Republic. A boldly
struck and beautiful example that has exceptional eye appeal for
the grade. A strike-through near obverse star 12 is of mint origin.
The 1860-S remains rare in Mint State despite shipwreck hoards.
Only a single Mint State 1860-S was recovered from the S.S.
Brother Jonathan, and only three Mint State coins emerged from
the S.S. Republic. The treasure ship gold specialist will
find the 1860-S challenging, and the present lot will provide the
best opportunity to secure a quality example. Census: 15 in 61, 4
finer (9/07).From The Arroyo Grande Collection.(Registry values: N4719)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 269F, PCGS# 8931, Greysheet# 9898)
