1860-S Double Eagle, MS61
Scarce Issue in Uncirculated Grades
1860-S $20 MS61 PCGS. Even though there were 18 examples
salvaged from the S.S. Brother Jonathan, those pieces graded
between XF40 and AU50. A couple of dozen Uncirculated pieces are
known, but the 1860-S is infrequently offered at public auction.
This sharply struck MS61 has lovely, frosted mint luster and rich
reddish-gold patina. While there are numerous small abrasions over
each side, none are large or worthy of individual mention.
