Description
1861 $20 AU50 PCGS. A pleasing green-gold example of this plentiful date, from a mintage of nearly 3 million coins. As the Civil War took hold, mintages dropped substantially, and Philadelphia would not produce 1 million or more double eagles again in a year until 1873. Smooth surfaces and attractive green-gold color ensures that this piece will be a nice addition to a type or date collection.(Registry values: N991)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 269G, PCGS# 8932, GSID# 9797)
