1861 $20 AU58 NGC. Ex: S.S. Republic. Among all double eagle specimens found on the S.S. Republic, the most prominent was the 1861 Philadelphia issue with a total of 459 examples recovered from the sunken vessel. The soft honey-gold luster coin displays alluring cartwheel effect. There are no prominent abrasions to distract from the appeal of this well-struck piece.(Registry values: N991)
