Near-Mint 1861 Twenty Dollar

1861 $20 AU58 NGC. Though this Type One issue has a mintage of nearly 3 million pieces it also experienced heavy attrition, and only a small fraction of those coins survive today in higher grades. This attractive near-Mint State piece, well struck with strongly lustrous gold-orange fields, shows modest friction on the highest parts of the design and light, scattered marks across each side.(Registry values: N991)
