Description
Near-Mint 1861 Liberty Head Double Eagle
Attractive Type Coin
1861 $20 AU58 NGC. The 1861 Liberty Head double eagle
enjoyed a huge mintage of nearly 3 Million pieces. As a result, the
issue has always been easy to locate and enjoys great popularity
with collectors seeking a Type One double eagle for a type set. The
attractive yellow-gold surfaces of this specimen are accented by
outlines of rose color around the devices. Only the slightest wear
shows on the design elements, and the surfaces are lightly abraded
for the grade.(Registry values: N991)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 269G, PCGS# 8932, GSID# 9797)
