Description

1861-S Double Eagle, AU50
Appealing Original Patina

1861-S $20 AU50 PCGS. Pleasing original olive-gold surfaces give this About Uncirculated 1861-S double eagle excellent eye appeal, while a few scattered small abrasions are not out of line for the grade. The 1861-S double eagle is significantly scarcer than the Philadelphia issue of this year, but it is much more plentiful than the Paquet Reverse issue that was also struck in 1861 at San Francisco.
