    1862 Twenty Dollar, AU50
    Original Surfaces, Partial Luster

1862 $20 AU50 PCGS. The mintage of the 1862 double eagle falls short of the six-figure mark at 92,133 pieces. Survivors are scarce in all grades, although a cluster of AU coins is reported by the certification services. A number of resubmissions are likely reflected in the official data. This is a rare example with original surfaces and remnants of luster in the fields. Straw-gold hues encompass each side, and motifs are boldly rendered. Light chatter on the obverse is unobtrusive, although a noticeable gouge in the reverse field of the Y in TWENTY is mentioned. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 14 in 50, 31 finer (3/16).
