Description

Scarce 1862 Twenty, XF45

1862 $20 XF45 NGC. A scarce Civil War issue, many of the 92,098 pieces struck were shipped to Europe where paper money was not welcome, as pointed out in Bowers' reference on this denomination. This coin was handled, however, as it shows even wear over the highpoints and numerous abrasions in the fields. Deep reddish color is seen over each side.(Registry values: N1793)
