Description

Attractive AU53 1862-S Twenty

1862-S $20 AU53 PCGS. The 1862-S double eagle is a high-mintage issue that is readily available in VF to XF condition. It becomes scarcer in AU, despite the recovery of several hundred pieces from the combined hoards of the S.S. Brother Jonathan and S.S. Republic shipwrecks, many of which were AU coins. This piece is boldly struck with deep khaki-gold coloration and modest wear on the high points. A couple of moderate blemishes are apparent on each side.(Registry values: N1793)
