1862-S $20 AU55 NGC. Considerable luster brightens this originally toned straw-gold example. The obverse has noticeable marks above the portrait and within the hair, but the surfaces are otherwise only moderately abraded. By the second year of the Civil War, all U.S. coins were hoarded except in the far West, where silver and gold continued to circulate.(Registry values: N1793)
