Description

S.S. Republic 1863-S Twenty, MS61

1863-S $20 MS61 NGC. Ex: S.S. Republic. Large S. The mintmark is positioned close to the tail feathers, with its left serif over the left upright of the N. Two different treasure discoveries, those of the S.S. Brother Jonathan and the S.S. Republic, are responsible for nearly all of the higher grade examples of the date that exist today. This frosty and lustrous light yellow specimen has a few scattered marks on each side that prevent a higher grade, but it presents excellent eye appeal.
