1863-S $20 XF45 NGC. Medium S. A total of 289 1863-S double eagles were recovered from the S.S. Brother Jonathan and Republic shipwrecks, augmenting the number of available survivors. Although considerable evidence of light circulation is evident in the form of field marks and blending over the devices, partial luster glows from the hidden areas.(Registry values: N991)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 269R, PCGS# 8940, Greysheet# 9903)
