Description

Lovely 1864 Double Eagle, AU58

1864 $20 AU58 NGC. An impressive example of the elusive 1864 double eagle that survived the hoarding activities during and after the Civil War. Perhaps some 19th century coin collector set this piece aside for today's collectors. The surfaces are almost fully lustrous with rich orange-gold patina. NGC has only certified eight finer examples.(Registry values: N1793)
