Attractive San Francisco Example

1864-S $20 MS60 PCGS. The 1864-S twenty dollar gold struck at the San Francisco branch mint is very scarce in Uncirculated grades. This example has the typically soft central strike of the issue, with scattered contact marks on both sides. Orange-gold and olive toning with lustrous surfaces for an attractive appearance. A well-developed reverse die crack over AMERICA adds to the interest. PCGS Population: 16 in 60, 64 finer (9/25).(Registry values: N2998)
