Description
1865-S Double Eagle, MS65
Highly Attractive, Ex: S.S. Brother Jonathan
1865-S $20 MS65 NGC. Small S mintmark. The frigid Pacific
Ocean imparted a frosty texture to many S.S. Brother
Jonathan double eagles as part of the recovery operations, but
the coin's surfaces were largely unaffected by the ocean's
preservation and exceptional eye appeal remains intact on most
pieces found. A few minor luster grazes exist on this Gem
Uncirculated Brother Jonathan recovery coin, yet the
surfaces are otherwise mark-free and the richly patinated
orange-gold surfaces are undeniably attractive. Full Gem examples
are rare and finer pieces are essentially uncollectible. Census: 58
in 65 (1 in 65+), 9 finer (3/25).(Registry values: N4719)From The Barron Collection.
