Description
1866 Liberty Double Eagle, MS60
FS-801, Doubled Die Reverse
1866 $20 Doubled Motto, FS-801, MS60 NGC. CAC. This vibrant
gold-lustered example displays remarkably reflective fields that
exhibit expected small abrasions and marks for the grade. The motto
clearly demonstrates doubling along the N and R, indicating that
this example belongs to the only major die variety of this issue.
NGC denotes only 30 finer examples, and CAC has only endorsed two
numerically finer examples; however, neither service has
distinguished the population of FS-801 on its own (1/26).From The Presidio Collection, Part II.
