    Description

    1866 Double Eagle, AU53
    Inaugural With Motto Representative

1866 $20 Motto AU53 PCGS. James Barton Longacre's double eagle design went unchanged from 1849 through 1865. In 1866, IN GOD WE TRUST was added within the reverse stars, creating the Type Two subtype. Examples of this first-year issue are seldom seen in problem-free AU condition. Uncirculated representatives are out of reach for most collectors. This moderately lustrous twenty dollar presents glints of rose and green amid dominant orange-gold coloration. Minimally marked and well-defined. Housed in a green label holder.(Registry values: N1793)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 269X, PCGS# 8949)

    Weight: 33.44 grams
