Description
1866 Motto Double Eagle, MS61
Frosty With Rose and Green Accents
1866 $20 Motto MS61 PCGS. CAC. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST was
introduced in 1866, creating a second subtype in the series. The
Type Two issues, of which this is the first, are seldom found above
MS62 and generally feature heavy abrasions and soft central strike
definition. This CAC-approved MS61 coin is remarkably attractive
for the date and type. Pale rose and green accents grace
orange-gold surfaces. Thick mint frost radiates from each side, and
scattered grazes are minimal. Even Liberty's curls and the eagle's
feathers are relatively crisp. Certainly worth a premium bid.
Population: 42 in 61, 12 finer. CAC: 11 in 61, 2 finer
(3/22).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 269X, PCGS# 8949, Greysheet# 9803)
