Description

Scarce 1867 Liberty Double Eagle, AU58

1867 $20 AU58 PCGS. CAC. From a mintage of 251,065 pieces, the 1867 is the most available Liberty Head, Type Two double eagle of the 1860s. That being said, the issue is still scarce in Mint State, and attractive AU coins offer a good balance of eye appeal and affordability. The present coin is sharply struck, and shows only the slightest wear on the high points of the design. Much original mint luster remains, and the surfaces are covered by an even reddish-gold patina.(Registry values: N991)
