1868 $20 AU58 CACG....
Description
1868 Double Eagle, AU58
Rarely Seen in Higher Grades
1868 $20 AU58 CACG. A third-year Type Two issue from a small
mintage of 98,575 coins, the 1868 double eagle is scarcely seen
this fine and rarely offered in higher grades. PCGS estimates fewer
than 10 distinct pieces survive in Mint State. This nearly
Uncirculated example enjoys rich orange-gold color and abundant
swirling frost that remains on each side. Just a touch of friction
shows on the strongly impressed design elements and the pleasing
surfaces show the expected number of minor abrasions for the grade.
This coin should find a home in a fine collection of double
eagles.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26A3, PCGS# 8953, Greysheet# 9805)
