Description

Noteworthy Mint State 1868 Twenty

1868 $20 MS60 PCGS. This Type Two Philadelphia double eagle issue's mintage did not reach six figures, and the date poses a challenge in virtually all grades. Coins up to and including Extremely Fine pieces, however, do not command a substantial premium over type. At the Mint State level, on the other hand, the 1868 twenty is a recognized condition rarity. While this MS60 example comes by its grade honestly, with numerous light and moderate abrasions affecting both fields and devices, the orange-kissed yellow-gold luster is fully intact. A desirable and important survivor. Population: 2 in 60, 5 finer (2/10).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26A3, PCGS# 8953, GSID# 9805)

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
Weight: 33.44 grams
AGW: 0.9675oz
