1868-S $20 AU55 NGC. The 1868-S double eagle is readily found in Very Fine and Extremely Fine grades. About Uncirculated pieces, such as the present Choice AU, are much more difficult to locate, and what few Mint State examples that have been certified are primarily MS60 and MS61. Yellow-gold surfaces exhibit tints of light tan, along with traces of luster in some of the recesses. Well struck, save for the usual softness in Liberty's hair and some of the star centers. Several minute marks are noted, especially on the obverse.(Registry values: N1793)
