Important MS61 1868-S Twenty
1868-S $20 MS61 NGC. This Type Two Liberty double eagle issue had a generous initial mintage, and Very Fine and even Extremely Fine examples are easily had with a little searching. About Uncirculated coins are much more challenging, and anything Mint State is a condition rarity. This MS61 piece, though moderately abraded on the obverse with a small cut just below Liberty's eye, is nonetheless immensely lustrous with potent wheat-gold color. Well struck overall with a comparatively clean reverse, both of which enhance the eye appeal.
