Description

1869 Double Eagle, AU58
Original Orange-Gold Patina

1869 $20 AU58 PCGS. CAC. Warm orange-gold surfaces contain a wonderful patina that exudes originality. Luster is strong on the reverse, and only slight weakness manifests on the upper obverse hair curls. Abrasions are light throughout and none are individually distracting. The mintage of this date is low in comparison to the San Francisco issue of this year, and certified populations peak in the middle of the AU range.(Registry values: N1793)
