    Description

    1869-S Twenty Dollar, MS60
    Very Scarce in Mint State

1869-S $20 MS60 PCGS. Like most San Francisco double eagle issues, the 1869-S has a mintage sufficient to ensure that circulated pieces are available at a price only modestly above bullion value. But the '69-S was struck too late to participate in shipwreck hoards, yet struck before large-scale exports to world banks. Thus, the issue is rare in Mint State. The present example displays considerable honey-gold luster and shows only a single mentionable mark, a slender line east of the mintmark.(Registry values: N2998)
