Description

1870 Double Eagle, AU58
Nearly Abrasion-Free

1870 $20 AU58 NGC. Lighter green-gold surfaces contain halos of rose in the protected areas. Striking weakness is limited to the uppermost strands of hair as well as the eagle's head. A few errant abrasions exist, but all are extremely minor. Like many of the Philadelphia issues of the period, the 1870 is mostly seen in XF and AU condition, with high-end AU examples like the present offering proving notable.(Registry values: N1793)
