Description

1870 Twenty Dollar, MS60
Low Mint State Survival Rate

1870 $20 MS60 PCGS. CAC. CAC endorsement is especially meaningful at the MS60 grade, indicating a degree of surface quality and eye appeal seldom seen on lower-level Mint State coins. This highly lustrous 1870 double eagle is original and sharply struck, with widely separated surface abrasions that allow the brilliant, yellow-gold color to shine forth with mint-fresh clarity. Most gold collections represent the date with an 1870-S twenty, given the scarcity of both the 1870 Philadelphia issue and the enormously rare and popular 1870-CC double eagles. This attractive P-mint example offers an excellent alternative. Population: 10 in 60, 66 finer. CAC: 4 in 60, 13 finer (8/23).(Registry values: N4719)
