Description
1870 Type Two Twenty, MS63
Tied for Finest at PCGS
1870 $20 MS63 PCGS. As none have been found in major hoards,
the Type Two double eagles are elusive in better Mint State grades.
This incredible Select Mint State 1870 double eagle is tied for the
finest that PCGS has graded with one finer piece at NGC, and it is
only the second MS63 example that we have offered since 1993, with
none finer. The connoisseur will be delighted with the quality.
Both sides exhibit brilliant and frosty yellow mint luster with
sharp design details. A single dark spot on Liberty's chin will
serve to identify this piece in both past and future offerings.
Population: 3 in 63 (1 in 63+), 0 finer (3/17).(Registry values: N1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26A7, PCGS# 8957, Greysheet# 9807)
