Bright Yellow-Gold 1871 Twenty, Choice AU
1871 $20 AU55 PCGS. The mintage of the 1871 double eagles was a relatively paltry 80,150 coins, and most of them appear to have circulated. The average certified survivor is only Choice XF to AU. This commendable Choice AU example shows abundant luster remaining on the bright yellow-gold surfaces, with only a few minor contact marks consistent with a short stay in the channels of commerce.
