    Description

Elusive, High Grade 1871-CC Twenty, AU53 NGC

1871-CC $20 AU53 NGC. Variety 1-A. Aside from the legendary 1870-CC Twenty, this issue of 17,387 pieces is the rarest date of the Carson City Double Eagles. As such it is one of the most sought-after issues in the series at any grade level. Pieces grading AU or finer are of the utmost importance to both specialists in Coronet Double Eagles and CC-mint gold. This minimally circulated example is well detailed over both sides and has natural golden patina that combines with the coin's natural reflectivity to give it excellent eye appeal. Some typical scuffiness in the fields is reported. Population: 15 in 53, 28 finer (4/05).(#8961) (Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 26AB, PCGS# 8961)

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
