Description
Richly Patinated 1871-S Twenty, MS62
1871-S $20 MS62 PCGS. The average grade of certified examples of the 1871-S--AU50 or so--confirms that most pieces circulated or were shipped overseas, so that today the coin is plentiful only in Very Fine to AU. Mint State pieces are elusive. This coin boasts rich cartwheel luster over mellow orange-gold coloration, with a bold strike and much eye appeal. A memorable coin. Population: 16 in 62, 2 finer (11/09).From The Atherton Family Collection.(Registry values: N4719)
