Not Sold Description
Rarely Encountered Uncirculated 1872-S Twenty
1872-S $20 MS61 NGC. One of the more frequently seen Type Two twenties, the 1872-S is occasionally encountered in the various AU grades but it is rare in mint condition. How rare? Only 10 pieces have been certified by both services in finer condition than this piece. The surfaces show full mint luster and are obviously frosted. Sharply struck. Each side shows the usual number of abrasions expected from a gold coin in this grade and the only larger, and therefore mentionable ones, are located in the right obverse field. A rare opportunity for the gold collector.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26AF, PCGS# 8965, GSID# 9916)
