Description

1873-CC Double Eagle, AU53
Only 22,410 Coins Minted

1873-CC $20 AU53 NGC. Winter 1-A. The 1872-CC and 1873-CC twenties have similar mintages and a similar survival profile. Both Carson City dates are usually found in XF to AU conditions, with abraded surfaces peppered by tiny marks. Large numbers have been seen at auction in recent years. Even at the lower Mint State levels, these Type two twenties are available for a price. The present AU53 is a bright, finely grained 1873-CC with even, yellow-gold color throughout both sides. The sharp strike remains and there are no heavy or distracting marks. Few significantly finer coins will be found at this grade level.(Registry values: N2998)
