1873-CC Double Eagle, AU55
Scarce Carson City Mint Issue
1873-CC $20 AU55 NGC. Winter 1-A. The 1873-CC Liberty Head
twenty dollar mintage of 22,410 coins were struck using three
different die marriages. The variety of this specimen has no
misplaced date digit. This lovely example has yellow gold with
light greenish hues, very appealing to the eye. From the brief time
it spent circulating in commerce, there are light abrasions, along
with having light bag marks prior to being released to circulation.
None of these contact marks are distracting, and the overall
appearance is nice for the grade. The coin has slight wear on the
high points, but still retains mint luster in protected areas. Some
weakness in strike is seen on the hair curls, consistent with the
issue. A nice representative of a Carson City branch mint double
