Description
Sharply Struck 1873-CC Double Eagle, AU58
1873-CC $20 AU58 PCGS. The 1873-CC twenty dollar is an elusive issue in Mint State, and most collectors today must hope for a nice near-Mint specimen such as the present coin. The mintage of the 1873-CC was a paltry 22,410 coins--all of the Closed 3 variety--and most of them circulated down to the XF-low AU range. This sharply struck piece shows rich orange-gold, lustrous surfaces with slight rub on the high points and lots of eye appeal. A few minor ticks are consistent with a short stay in circulation, but the surfaces are far less abraded than most examples seen. Population: 43 in 58, 8 finer (8/10).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26AJ, PCGS# 8968, GSID# 9917)
