1873-S $20 Closed 3 MS61 NGC. CAC. Ex: Duquesne. The 1873-S Liberty double eagle with a Closed 3 in the date is not too difficult to locate in circulated grades, but Mint State examples are quite scarce. This attractive MS61 specimen exhibits well-detailed design elements and vivid orange-gold surfaces with a scattering of minor contact marks that explain the grade. NGC has graded 28 numerically finer examples (5/15).
