1873-S Closed 3 Double Eagle, MS62
Rarely Found So Well-Preserved
1873-S $20 Closed 3 MS62 PCGS. CAC. Small S. This is the
more available of two varieties for the year, but examples can
hardly be considered obtainable in this grade. Most Uncirculated
coins are in MS60 and MS61, while MS62 survivors are decidedly
rare. Frosty luster washes over peach-gold surfaces. The obverse
shows strike softness over the stars and curls. Light marks are
peppered evenly over each side. Population: 26 in 62, 3 finer
