1873-S $20 Open 3 AU50 PCGS. The mintage of 1,040,600 pieces was split between the Closed (or Close) 3 and Open 3 varieties, of which the Open 3 is scarcer. (The Smithsonian Institution lacks an example of either variety.) This piece offers deep, mellow orange-gold coloration with considerable luster remaining.(Registry values: N991)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26AM, PCGS# 8979, GSID# 9919)
