Description

1874-CC Liberty Head Double Eagle, AU50
Attractive Luster

1874-CC $20 AU50 PCGS. The 1874-CC double eagle enjoyed a mintage of 115,085 pieces, the second highest production figure for any Carson City double eagle. Doug Winter estimates 1,500-2,000 pieces are extant in all grades, with perhaps 580-710 examples in AU. Only one die variety is known for the date. The present coin exhibits light wear on the pleasing greenish-gold surfaces, and mint luster is quite strong for an AU coin.(Registry values: N1793)
