Description
Pleasing Choice AU 1874-CC Double Eagle
1874-CC $20 AU55 NGC. The Carson City Mint produced 115,085 double eagles dated 1874, a relatively high number by the standards of the time. While not particularly rare in the absolute sense, in AU or better this is a difficult issue. The present example is particularly pleasing and has retained much original mint luster, indicating that its time in circulation was brief. Modestly worn with a few small marks and hairlines.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26AP, PCGS# 8971, GSID# 9920)
